BUCKLAND'S COMPLETE BOOK OF WITCHCRAFT by Raymond Buckland This book was how I (Indiana) got started. It's set up in lessons, and there's a lot in it for the solitary practitioner, including one very important ritual: self-initiation/dedication. After each lesson there is a series of questions to see how well you took in the lesson, and they're actually a lot of fun. The book itself has a lot of good information, and is a very good guide for beginners. As you become more advanced, however, it loses much of its meaning. I highly recommend it as one of your first books about the Craft, as it is a very good basic layout of the religion. THE SPIRAL DANCE by Starhawk Spiral Dance is definitely for the more practiced in the ways of the Wicce. It has many good exercises and spells to increase psychic awareness and ability at astral projection. It talks about several of the myths behind wicca as well as some of the traditions. The most important parts, however, are the exercises. THE SABBATS by Edain McCoy The Sabbats are a very important part of the Wiccan religion, and this book covers them all, in excellent detail. It talks about their histories, traditions, myths... it even has recipes for traditional foods for each Sabbat, including the so-called "minor" Sabbats. Beyond simply talking about our holidays, this book even contains a plethora of appendices, resplendent with additional information and reference tables galore.
